HANGOVER CURES
With the festive period in full swing and Christmas party invites coming in thick and fast, we’ve compiled some of the best hangover cures we found from around the web.
SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS
No not the tequila kind, although this may taste just as bad. Getting your sodium levels back up is key to combating a hangover, and a sure-fire way to do this is with a shot of pickle juice. If you can eat the pickle too then that’s a massive win.
SOUP FOR THE SOUL
If pickles aren’t for you, soup could be your go to. It’s easy to digest, plus pick the right flavour and you’ll be hitting some high salt levels. Chicken noodle, miso and bouillon all come out top.
BE A MILLIENNIAL
Like sodium, potassium is depleted when you drink, and in turn contributes to that groggy feeling the next day. Super easy ways to top up your levels include eating a banana, drinking coconut water or getting stuck into some avocado on toast. Even better if you can add some eggs on top.
GO SWEET
As with electrolytes, it’s important to top up your sugar stores. We saw one tip online that suggested mixing 5 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt in some water and necking. We’re not fans. A less extreme version would be to get hold of some honey. It’s packed full of natural sugars and there’s research to suggest it may help increase the rate at which alcohol is eliminated from your body. Honey on toast for the win.
GET FLUSHED
Some people swear by IV drips for getting through a hangover. There’s the super fancy Reviv, who for a not-so-small sum of £150 on top of the drip cost, can come to your house. Or the uber trendy Get A Drip in Shoreditch, who have a menu that looks more like a smoothie bar than an IV offering.
