Meet the Trainer: Ilana
Get to Know You
Which concepts do you teach?
Reformer.
How long have you been at 1Rebel?
A full year in October.
What inspired you to become a trainer?
I had a Pilates instructor who encouraged me to become a trainer, and I thought, why not?!
If you weren’t a fitness instructor, what would you be doing?
Teaching in some other way, whether it be dance classes or in a classroom teaching kids. I love feeling like I’ve made a difference in someone's life.
Training Philosophy
Describe your training style in one sentence.
Killing you with kindness.
What’s the number 1 piece of advice you give new Rebels?
CONSISTENCY! Stick with it for at least three sessions before you decide if this type of training is really for you. It can be overwhelming trying a new type of training, so be gentle with yourself; it's not all going to click into place in the first class.
How do you stay motivated on low-energy days?
I have a playlist called EPIC SONGS that I blast before classes, and it never fails to amp me up. That (and a matcha) never hurts.
What’s your post-class recovery ritual?
SHAKE! I genuinely grab a shake after most teaching blocks to give me that protein boost and energy, as well as trying to get outside to sit in the sun and fresh air.
Music & Vibe
What’s one song that never leaves your playlist?
Anything Taylor Swift! #Swiftie4Life
What’s the vibe of your classes in 3 words?
ENCOURAGING, SPICY, FUN
Throwbacks or new tracks?
New tracks - I’m a current Pop Princess.
What’s the one song that always gets the room fired up?
Anything Charli XCX.
Lifestyle & Tips
One wellness habit you swear by?
Mix up your training! I’ve started incorporating swimming into my weekly schedule and can really feel the difference. It’s great for cardio and helps my muscles relax and ease off on days when I feel too sore to lift heavy weights and burn it out on the Reformer.
What’s in your gym bag right now?
Deodorant, grippy socks, two notebooks, headphones, water bottle, mic belt, microphone covers, wallet, keys, and pens. Oh, and some snacks.
One myth about fitness you’d love to bust?
That Reformer is easy! If it feels easy, you’re probably doing something wrong. It should constantly burn and activate those tiny muscles that are impossible to feel in other strength-training sessions. I love seeing clients find those Pilates shakes. It gives you a workout you won't feel anywhere else.
