THE IMPORTANCE OF REST DAYS

At 1Rebel, we’re all about pushing limits, smashing goals, and unleashing your full potential. But here’s the thing: your body needs downtime just as much as it needs to grind. That’s where rest days come in.

Why Rest Days Matter

  1. They can actually make you stronger. You may think the more you train, the stronger you’ll be. While that’s partly true, muscles actually develop in the ‘repair phase’. When you train hard, you create tiny microtears in your muscles. Your body needs time to repair these fibers, rebuild strength, and replenish energy stores. When you rest, your muscles start to heal and grow back stronger.

  1. Rest days help to avoid injuries. If you’re constantly training without giving yourself a break, your body and mind are going to tire out very quickly, making you more likely to have bad form or stumble. Also, if you’ve injured yourself during exercise, continuing to push yourself is only going to increase the time it takes to heal.

  1. You’re at risk of getting Overtraining Syndrome. We all know that exercising releases neurotransmitters like endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, but what happens when you push yourself too far without adequate rest? It can affect your central nervous system when your body is put under too much stress caused by over exercising, leading to prolonged fatigue, muscle soreness and mood changes.

Rest days aren’t just about skipping a workout, they’re optimising recovery. This is where we come in. Reset, our sauna and cold plunge therapy  is designed to accelerate recovery, reduce muscle soreness, and recharge both your body and mind.

How Reset Helps

  • Recovery: The combination of the sauna and cold plunge reduces muscle soreness and inflammation, to speed up and improve how you recover from training.

  • Circulation: Boosts cardiovascular activity, which in turn helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients more effectively around the body.

  • Mental health: The endorphin hit from the heat can elevate your mood, while the impact of the cold can boost alertness, help reduce stress and build resilience.

  • Immunity: The stress of the hot-cold cycle has been shown to stimulate the production of white blood cells, improving how your body fights illness.

Make the Most of Your Rest

Even on rest days, you can actively support recovery:

  • Active Recovery: Gentle stretching, walking, or yoga helps keep circulation moving.

  • Nutrition & Hydration: Feed your muscles and stay hydrated to aid repair.

  • Sleep: Quality sleep is your secret weapon for strength and performance.

At 1Rebel, we’re all about finding balance. Incorporating Reset into your routine maximises recovery, prevents burnout, and keeps you smashing your goals.
